Hard Rocking with Moeraes Fate

By Amanda Walton January 24, 2010

Which Rock from the Sun did Moeraes Fate come from because it sure couldn’t be the planet of the Third Rock! That’s the first thought that raced through me the first time I was blown away seeing and hearing their performance in Niagara Falls on New Years Eve.
Memorizing, unique, powerful are a few words that come to mind but addicting is one you will feel immediately as the fans old and new felt that came to see Moeraes Fate play at the Hard Rock Café Toronto Friday January 8/10 in the semi-finals of 4 the Rekord competition for a chance to win $10,000.
Second band on stage the scattered crowd and fans immediately took front and centre gathering around the stage to get as close as possible to what was going to be without a doubt another awesome performance and with no surprise rocked the Hard Rock as if they were seasoned professionals touring one of their concerts.
Meeting the three girls after the performance was the highlight of my night, and as hard rock as these girls are, they are amazing ladies with awesome personalities filled with smiles and laughter.
Moeraes Fate2
I’m happy to pass along Moeraes Fate won the semi-finals and have moved onto the finals at a place and date TBA (to be announced). We will for sure be there to support them and another chance to watch them live up close and personal along with letting you all know the confirmed date and time.
It’s been a long time since I’ve ventured out to listen to a live band or even a concert so for me to follow around a group they have to be pretty amazing and that word doesn’t do these three ladies justice. Kicking back to their tunes it’s hard not to be astonished at the clarity of their sound and style, but to watch them live on stage with a performance that comes so naturally to all three is a chance you just don’t want to miss. Many in the industry are confident these girls will go all the way and that day of turning into reality as it’s at the beginning stages, very few fans will get this close again. They are that awesome!
A unique signature band is what I view them, although a sound contemporary to Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Rush, Pearl Jam and others these girls are a breath of the new millennium air slipping in the combined sounds power and performance of some of the great legends in music mixed in with their own unique style that appeals to a wide age range of fan base.
I found it difficult on which member to focus my attention on as all three exhibit strength in their area of play as Kayla Faye exercises her ability that can keep up and even surpass her peers in the industry as a powerful drummer/percussionist.
MF
Vocalist and bass player Katee Lee is quickly gaining fame for her natural strong voice with the added training of the late Haydain Neale, a 2 time Juno award winner in 2001 and 2007, Canadian Urban Music Award winner for songwriter of the year in 2004 and SOCAN award for R&B song of the year in 2005 along with Katee’s bass playing as Kenny Colgate of The Fallout Entertainment Group/Romulus X Records compared to his all time favourite bass player Getty Lee of Rush.
Katee and Ali
The newest band member guitarist/keyboardist Ali Stead plays as though she was born with her guitar in her hands, a natural stage performer, and her great sense of style gave new reach to the band formally known as Dame.
Their newly released EP (and one I blast on my stereo) “The Making of the New Me” was recorded by Hamilton based Imagefm/Platinum Entertainment owned by Mark Brewer who produced and co-produced with the band, Moeraes Fate has yet to sign with anyone at this time said Manager Jacquie Lee who was kind enough to answer a few questions I had on these new rising stars.
Katee Lee 3
When speaking with Ali Stead’s mother MJ and co-manager who I had the pleasure to meet with and talk to in person at the Hard Rock Café, I inquired about their busy schedule because of the young age and the continued growing recognition of three girls who write their own music, play benefits, tour, give interviews and continue in band competition and most importantly at this time their schooling. MJ replied Ali is expected to maintain at least an 85 percent average in which she does and Jacquie Lee also told me all the girls are expected to maintain good grades but if they do sway they are given the extra time to improve but never rehearse less then once a week.
To many young talent are not encouraged to continue their schooling at this pace and end up taking to the limelight to quickly only to not gain the success they were shooting for with nothing to fall back on Kenny Colgate told Nabweekly during a lengthy conversation last week as we shared our blown away appreciation of talent and dedicated fan followers of Moeraes Fate. The fact these girls have Management that sticks by education will give these girls a greater chance of success in their future of the direction they are headed.
Me!

Me!

With an agenda this packed, discipline is something that seems to come just as naturally to Moeraes Fate as does their tremendous amount of talent you have to watch and listen to believe.
